Since Saudi Arabia introduced its active merger control regime in 2019, merger control enforcement has expanded rapidly across the MENA region. Morocco increased enforcement activity beginning in 2021, Egypt implemented its pre-closing notification regime in 2024, and the UAE recently broadened the scope of its merger control framework through new turnover-based thresholds.
